In 2006, Maine made it illegal to dispose of televisions and computer monitors and municipalities became required to provide the means to collect electronics for recycling through local transfer stations. You may recycle your out-of-date products in your community according to local policy. Please contact your local officials to find out the best way to dispose of your old electronics. Some towns may not accept these items, however, your town may have an agreement with a neighboring town facility.
You may also choose to participate in a collection event, held periodically at centralized locations throughout the state. Please refer to our Collection Events page to see when the next event will be held at a location near you.
